The Cherokee County Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (CCADA) is dedicated to addressing substance use issues through prevention, intervention, and treatment services. Established in 1972, CCADA operates under the governance of a seven-member Board of Directors appointed by the Cherokee County Council. As part of the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Services (DAODAS), the Commission is integrated into the statewide 301 system, ensuring a comprehensive approach to managing alcohol and drug-related problems.
The Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program (ADSAP) is a key component of CCADA, offering essential assessment, education, intervention, and treatment services. Established by state law, ADSAP mandates that individuals convicted of driving under the influence (DUI), boating under the influence (BUI), Automatic License Revocation (ALR), or Zero Tolerance must complete the program to regain eligibility for relicensing. This requirement, outlined in Section 56-6-2990 of the South Carolina Code of Laws, emphasizes the program’s role in promoting public safety and responsible behavior.
To participate in ADSAP, individuals must provide a 10-year driving record, a picture ID, and court documents. The cost of the program varies, ranging from $500 to $2400, depending on the specific requirements and circumstances of each case. Through its structured approach, CCADA and ADSAP work together to support individuals in overcoming substance use challenges and ensuring compliance with state regulations.
