The Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program (ADSAP) is a statewide initiative in South Carolina aimed at addressing substance use issues among individuals convicted of driving under the influence (DUI), boating under the influence (BUI), or those with suspended licenses due to the Administrative License Revocation (ALR) process. The program’s primary objective is to reduce alcohol and drug-related traffic accidents, fatalities, and property damage by intervening early in the development of substance use problems.
Counseling Services of Lancaster provides comprehensive outpatient programs and evidence-based counseling to address substance use disorders and related issues. Services are confidential and available to both adults and adolescents. The program involves an initial assessment to determine each individual’s needs and to develop a tailored treatment plan. Depending on the assessment results, the level of care required may vary.
For participation in ADSAP, individuals need to bring a picture ID, a current 10-year driving record, and a minimum payment of $250. The total cost for ADSAP services ranges from $500 for educational and intervention services to up to $2,000 for more intensive treatment services. If the arrest occurred more than 10 years ago, a suspension letter from the DMV detailing the DUI arrest and conviction dates must be provided.
ADSAP offers a range of services including individual and group counseling, family counseling, education, crisis intervention, referral services, recovery management, DOT assessments, drug testing, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Special attention is given to individuals who are pregnant or have used substances intravenously.
