The Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program (ADSAP) is a court-mandated initiative in South Carolina aimed at helping individuals who have been convicted of driving or boating under the influence (DUI/BUI) regain their driving privileges while addressing substance use issues. At Behavioral Health Services of Pickens County, ADSAP serves as a critical intervention to prevent future offenses and support rehabilitation.
The program is designed for those who have lost their license due to driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .08% or higher, or who have refused to take a sobriety test. Participation in ADSAP is required before restoring driving rights. The program includes a range of services such as medical care, group and individual counseling, drug and alcohol testing, and family therapy. Each participant's needs are assessed individually to tailor the treatment approach, which may involve medication, therapy sessions, and ongoing aftercare to ensure long-term recovery.
Enrollees must join ADSAP within 30 days of their conviction to avoid legal repercussions. While initial costs range from $500 to $2500, financial assistance is available through sliding-fee scales and payment plans, with most insurance including Medicaid accepted. A provisional license may be granted under specific conditions, allowing participants to drive while completing the program. Successful completion of ADSAP leads to the possibility of reinstating a permanent license, provided all requirements are met.
Behavioral Health Services of Pickens County is dedicated to providing compassionate, effective treatment to help individuals overcome substance use challenges and achieve lasting change.
