The Alcohol & Drug Safety Action Program (ADSAP) is a mandatory program for individuals charged with alcohol or substance-related violations. Enrollment is available through walk-in visits only, Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. To enroll, bring a current 10-year driving record from the DMV, a valid ID, an initial payment of $250, and any court referrals. The assessment process, which may take one to two hours, includes scheduling options for classes that may be offered during evenings and weekends to fit various work schedules.
The ADSAP requires DUI offenders to complete a minimum of 16 hours of educational curriculum. Following this, an individual assessment will determine if additional treatment services are necessary. The total program fees range from $500 to $2,500, with the $250 initial payment applied toward these fees. Clients are responsible for all drug screening costs.
For those with DUI convictions in South Carolina but residing out of state, or holding an out-of-state license, coordination with the Interstate Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program is required. South Carolina residents with out-of-state DUI convictions should bring all related paperwork to ensure compliance. Note that some states, like North Carolina, might require collaboration with local providers.
