The Dorchester Alcohol and Drug Commission offers a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to addressing alcohol and drug addiction as well as mental health disorders. The commission provides specialized services, including Driver’s License Reinstatement and the Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program (ADSAP). ADSAP plays a crucial role in combating the high rates of injury and fatalities resulting from alcohol and drug-related traffic incidents. By working with individuals charged with DUI, BUI, and similar offenses, ADSAP aims to enhance highway safety. Under state law, those convicted of DUI, who have an implied consent violation, or whose blood alcohol content is .15 or higher, must complete ADSAP to be eligible for relicensing. The program is designed to reduce the likelihood of repeat offenses through a combination of assessment, education, intervention, and treatment services. Its overarching goal is to minimize future risks and ensure safer driving practices.
