Knox County DUI School

The Knox County Sheriff's Pre-Trial Services is dedicated to enhancing public safety and ensuring court appearances by utilizing best practices, including data-driven risk assessments and judicially-ordered supervision of defendants. This unit manages assessments for all individuals arrested in Knox County, gathering detailed information about the defendant’s background, community ties, and risk of reoffending or fleeing. This information is provided to the courts to assist in making informed decisions regarding detention or release. The Supervision Division oversees approximately 2,500 defendants, ensuring they comply with court-imposed conditions and restrictions. The division works to maintain public safety and defendant accountability through close monitoring and collaboration with the courts. Pre-Trial Services also manages Knox County’s DUI and Traffic Schools, offering classes in the City County Building. Various electronic monitoring options are used to track defendants, including GPS, SCRAM devices, and remote breath monitoring, which are imposed by the courts as part of defendants' supervision conditions. These services aim to provide effective supervision while minimizing the risk to the community.
