Rutherford County Probation and Recovery Services is dedicated to enhancing community safety through effective probation supervision. The department works closely with the Courts to ensure individuals sentenced to probation comply with the conditions set for their release. Case Managers use various methods such as graduated sanctions, restricted movements, and praise or reprimands to ensure compliance. They also prepare comprehensive reports that assist the Courts in making informed decisions regarding probation modifications or revocations.

The department emphasizes community protection by reducing the likelihood of probationers committing new offenses through diligent supervision. Probationers are also directed to specialized services that address underlying issues, including behavioral intervention programs, substance abuse treatment, mental health care, medical services, vocational training, housing support, and employment assistance.

The mission of Rutherford County Probation and Recovery Services is to foster a safer community by promoting offender accountability, reducing recidivism, and offering effective treatment and case management. The department serves as the "eyes and ears" of the Courts, supervising those convicted of or entering conditional guilty pleas to criminal offenses. In addition to its core services, Rutherford County Probation and Recovery Services has initiated community outreach efforts, such as providing essential items to the homeless, to further support individuals in need and foster positive change in the community.
