The Community Intervention Department at UCHRA offers a range of programs designed to improve the quality of life in the community. These initiatives focus on supporting individuals at risk of entering the correctional system, victims of abuse or neglect, and children in need of a positive learning environment. One of the key offerings is driver education, which provides essential training to individuals ages 15 and up. The course consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving practice, and an optional road test. Upon successful completion, students receive documentation that can be used to obtain a Tennessee Driver’s License, along with a Certificate of Completion. The program, led by state-certified instructors, emphasizes safe and responsible driving. All training materials, including the Tennessee Driver handbook, lesson plans, and training videos, are provided. UCHRA also supplies vehicles for the driving portion of the course. The cost of the training is $375 per student, and DUI School is available exclusively in Putnam County.
