Welcome to the Bay Area Council on Drugs & Alcohol (BACODA), where we are dedicated to empowering our community with knowledge and resources to prevent or address substance use disorders. As a community leader in the fields of Prevention, Education, Intervention, and Recovery, we strive to create healthy and thriving communities for our youth and families.
Founded in 1974, BACODA emerged from the efforts of concerned parents, business and medical professionals, and civic leaders who recognized the need for a centralized resource to combat drug and alcohol abuse in the Texas Bay Area. Since then, we have grown to serve Galveston, Brazoria, and Matagorda counties, offering prevention education and intervention services to individuals, families, and communities.
At BACODA, we are committed to reducing the prevalence of substance use disorders and promoting overall wellness. Our nonprofit organization is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and operates as a United Way agency, ensuring accountability and transparency in our efforts to support those affected by substance abuse.
Join us as we work together to build a healthier and safer community, where individuals and families can thrive free from the burden of substance use disorders.
