Welcome to Brazos Valley Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse (BVCASA), where we offer comprehensive programs aimed at addressing substance abuse and related issues. Our Drug Offender Education Program (DOEP) is a Texas Department of State Health Services-approved 15-hour course designed to educate participants on the dangers of drug use/abuse and associated illegal activities. This standardized program covers various topics including drug laws, addiction as a brain disease, and the effects of drug abuse on families and communities. Participants will also receive assistance in developing a plan for positive lifestyle changes to reduce the likelihood of future drug-related behaviors.

Our DOEP classes are structured into five separate 3-hour sessions, each to be taken in the correct sequence. An exit interview is required to receive a Certificate of Completion. Registration for DOEP is on a first-come, first-served basis and must be done in person. Please ensure you have your driver’s license, social security card, cause number, and payment in full when registering. The cost for DOEP is $150, effective May 15, 2021.

Additionally, we offer the Choices Not Chances (CNC) program, an 8-hour course designed for adults aged 18 and up who have received citations for public intoxication or other alcohol/drug-related offenses not requiring enrollment in state-sponsored programs. CNC covers topics such as substance abuse history, current drug trends, and the effects of alcohol and drug use on the body and society. Registration for CNC is also on a first-come, first-served basis and must be done in person. The cost for CNC is $50.

We understand the importance of punctuality, as classes start promptly at 6:00 PM. Late arrivals will not be admitted, and their registration fee will be forfeited. Join us at BVCASA as we strive to empower individuals to make positive changes and lead healthier lives.
