The Healthy Recovery DWI-Intervention Program is a comprehensive, state-mandated program designed for individuals convicted of multiple DWI offenses or those with significant alcohol or drug-related issues. Required under Article 42.12, Section 13(j) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, this 32-hour program aims to address the underlying substance abuse problems that contribute to repeat offenses. The program's primary goal is to intervene in participants' alcohol and drug-abusing lifestyles, promoting entry into treatment when necessary and preventing future substance abuse-related incidents.
Participants in the DWI-Intervention Program engage in a curriculum that covers various critical topics, including lifestyle choices, values, self-esteem, the effects of drugs and alcohol on the body and mind, and the impact of substance abuse on family members. The program also addresses co-dependency, introduces participants to support resources like Al-Anon and 12-Step Self-Help Groups, and teaches essential skills such as problem-solving, relapse prevention, and action planning.
In addition to the DWI-Intervention Program, Healthy Recovery offers a 15-hour Drug Offender Education (DOE) program. This program focuses on educating participants about the dangers of drug abuse, the legal and health consequences associated with drug use, and the development of a personal action plan to reduce the risk of future offenses. Topics include the history of drug abuse, drug laws, the dynamics of drug use, and strategies for regaining control of one’s life. Together, these programs provide essential education and support for individuals seeking to break free from the cycle of substance abuse.
