Alcohol and Substance Abuse Treatment

The Casselton Program is dedicated to treating alcohol and substance abuse by offering outpatient services to adults and older adolescents in need of therapeutic and educational intervention. If your alcohol or drug use is causing legal problems or affecting your family, friends, or job, our program can help.

Our Programs

Outpatient Treatment: Following an initial evaluation, including standardized tests, screens, and a personal interview, we determine the best course of treatment. Treatment involves group therapy, 12 Step Group attendance, and random drug and alcohol screenings. Most clients begin with at least two group therapy sessions per week, with frequency decreasing as they progress through the program.

Alcohol Safety Program: As a qualified service provider for the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program (VASAP), we receive client referrals for additional assessments. This program includes group therapy sessions, with frequency and duration determined at evaluation. We also offer virtual groups for out-of-state residents mandated to attend VASAP due to DUI/DWI convictions in Virginia.

Jail Evaluations: We conduct evaluations for potential clients in jail using standardized tests and personal interviews. Program requirements are explained in detail, and successful evaluations have sometimes led to clients being released on bond. The number of group therapy sessions is determined at evaluation, with an additional fee for jail evaluations.

Clinical Substance Abuse Evaluations: For clients needing a clinical assessment with a diagnosis, requested by courts or employers, we offer intensive evaluations conducted by a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker. There is an additional fee for this assessment.

Education Classes: In collaboration with local community corrections, we offer a 6-hour substance abuse education class recommended for young and first offenders with minor drug and alcohol charges. This fee-based class is also beneficial for anyone interested in learning more about the effects of alcohol and drugs.

Drug and Alcohol Screening: While COVID-19 has suspended breathalyzer tests at group meetings, all clients must submit to random drug and alcohol screens. We screen for 14 different types of drugs and send samples to third-party labs for metabolite testing or verification as needed. There is a fee for drug and alcohol testing.

The Casselton Program aims to provide comprehensive support and treatment for individuals struggling with alcohol and substance abuse, helping them to achieve recovery and improve their quality of life.
