The Community Services Board (CSB) is one of 40 boards in Virginia dedicated to providing comprehensive services in developmental disabilities, early intervention, mental health, prevention, and substance use disorders. Serving the residents of Chesterfield County, the CSB promotes wellness and enhances the quality of life through exceptional behavioral health and developmental services.
As an administrative policy board for the Department of Mental Health Support Services, the CSB is appointed by the Board of Supervisors and operates with statutory fiduciary and management authority, as outlined in the Code of Virginia (§37.2-100). The board's primary responsibilities include overseeing critical areas such as case finding, consultation, continuing care, diagnostic treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, and training.
The CSB is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), an organization that ensures the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a rigorous accreditation process. This accreditation reflects the CSB’s commitment to enhancing the lives of the people it serves by providing high-quality, comprehensive care in mental health, developmental disability services, and substance abuse treatment.
