When you are arrested for a DUI, it is crucial to act quickly to avoid losing your driving privileges. If you do not take action within 10 days of your arrest, your ability to obtain a hardship license may be delayed or denied. Refusing a breathalyzer test can result in a 90-day suspension before you are eligible for a hardship license, while blowing a .08 or higher leads to a 30-day suspension. Failing to enroll for a hardship license within the first 10 days can result in a suspension of your driving privileges for 6-8 months, potentially impacting your ability to drive for work while your criminal trial is pending, which could take up to 18 months.
For those facing DUI charges, there are two levels of DUI courses available. The Level 1 DUI course is intended for individuals with a first-time DUI or felony drug-related arrests. This course includes a one-hour private evaluation interview, followed by 12 hours of class instruction over two days. The Level 2 DUI course is designed for individuals with multiple DUI arrests or those who have previously attended DUI school. It consists of a one-hour private evaluation and 20 hours of classroom instruction over three days. Both courses involve lectures, videos, discussions, and group interaction, helping participants navigate the consequences of a DUI and make better decisions moving forward.
