Tri-County Human Services, Inc. (TCHS) offers a comprehensive DUI Program in partnership with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV), serving Polk, Highlands, and Hardee counties. This program is designed to meet the legal requirements for individuals charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI). It includes two levels of classes and a mandatory substance use evaluation.

Level I is a 12-hour course for first-time offenders with no prior DUI offenses or program attendance, while Level II is a 21-hour course for repeat offenders or those who have previously completed a DUI program. All participants must also undergo a one-hour substance abuse evaluation.

The program registration process begins with an online pre-registration, requiring participants to pay fees via credit or debit card. The cost is $340.00 for Level I and $504.50 for Level II, with additional processing fees. These fees are non-refundable, even if the participant is later found not guilty or has their license suspension invalidated. After pre-registration, participants must contact the Lakeland DUI office to schedule an in-person registration appointment, which includes a breath alcohol test and takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete.

Failure to complete the program within 90 days of registration can result in probation violations and license cancellation by the DHSMV. The program also provides assistance for those seeking a restricted driver’s license or a waiver of administrative suspension laws.
