Comprehend’s DUI Program is designed to provide a structured and supportive process for individuals convicted of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) in the Buffalo Trace region. Certified by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health & Family Services since 1992 and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), the program offers comprehensive services, including assessment, referral, education, and treatment. Following a DUI conviction, participants can enroll at one of Comprehend’s four outpatient offices. The program begins with an assessment by a Certified DUI Assessor, which determines whether the individual will need to complete DUI education, treatment, or both.
The DUI education course, “Prime for Life,” developed by the Prevention Research Institute, is a 20-hour class taught over several days. Drug screenings may be required, and upon successful completion of all education or treatment requirements and full payment of fees, a completion notice is sent to the participant, the court, and the Kentucky Department of Transportation.
