The Substance Awareness Traffic Offender Program (SATOP) is a state-certified program required for individuals who have been cited or arrested for substance-related traffic offenses in Missouri. These offenses include Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Chemical Refusal, and Minor in Possession (MIP). Completion of SATOP is mandatory for individuals seeking to reinstate their Missouri driver’s license.
At NDS, we offer SATOP screenings both online and in person at multiple locations, including Kansas City, Liberty, Richmond, Excelsior Springs, and Platte County. The screening process involves an assessment with a certified SATOP counselor, who determines the appropriate program level based on individual evaluations. The state-mandated screening fee is $375, and placement is determined according to specific program criteria.
SATOP includes various educational and intervention programs tailored to different risk levels:
- Adolescent Diversion Education Program (ADEP) - $200: A 10-hour education course designed for minors cited for substance-related offenses.
- Offender Education Program (OEP) - $200: A 10-hour class for low-risk individuals focusing on decision-making and the consequences of impaired driving.
- Weekend Intervention Program (WIP) - $474.46: A 20-hour intensive program for repeat or high-risk offenders, conducted in a structured, restrictive setting.
- Clinical Intervention Program (CIP) - $1,083.44: A 50-hour outpatient counseling program for individuals with multiple offenses or substance-related life challenges.
- Serious and Repeat Offender Program (SROP) - $1,500: A 75-hour intensive outpatient treatment program for those with severe substance dependency.
State funding assistance is available for Missouri residents who qualify based on income. Additionally, we provide SATOP screenings and select classes in Spanish. Contact us for more details or to register today.
