The Substance Awareness Traffic Offenders Program (SATOP) provides comprehensive education and treatment options for individuals arrested in Missouri for alcohol- or drug-related driving offenses. Ozark Center New Directions is the only full-service provider of SATOP in the area, offering state-certified programs to help participants meet legal requirements and address substance use issues.

The process begins with a screening assessment, a standardized, computerized evaluation that takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Conducted by a professional, this screening determines the most appropriate program based on individual needs. SATOP is only available through certified providers, ensuring consistent quality and compliance with Missouri state regulations.

Ozark Center New Directions offers multiple SATOP programs tailored to different levels of risk and offense history:

  • Adolescent Diversion Education – A 10-hour course designed for offenders under 21.
  • Offender Education Program – A 10-hour program for first-time offenders focusing on decision-making and consequences.
  • Weekend Intervention Program – A more intensive weekend course aimed at repeat or high-risk first-time offenders.
  • Clinical Intervention Program – A 50-hour outpatient program with individual and group counseling.
  • Serious Repeat Offenders Program – A structured 75-hour outpatient treatment for individuals with multiple offenses or a high risk of chemical dependency.

Ozark Center New Directions offers SATOP at two convenient locations in Joplin and Neosho. Walk-ins are welcome during business hours. To begin the process, participants must complete the screening assessment and enroll in the recommended program.

For more details about SATOP services, visit Ozark Center New Directions at either location during operating hours.
