Substance Awareness Traffic Offender Programs (SATOP) and Education Classes
EMASS offers a range of Alcohol and Drug Education Classes, with a primary focus on the Substance Awareness Traffic Offender Program (SATOP). SATOP is a comprehensive, multi-level program designed to screen individuals and refer them to appropriate education, intervention, or treatment services based on their specific needs. Certified by the State of Missouri, EMASS provides all SATOP levels, ensuring tailored support for participants.
The SATOP process begins with the Offender Management Unit (OMU) screening, which determines placement into one of four levels: the Offender Education Program (OEP) for first-time offenders, the Weekend Intervention Program (WIP) for moderate-risk individuals, the Clinical Intervention Program (CIP) for high-risk participants, or the Serious and Repeat Offenders Program (SROP) for the most severe cases. Program costs, regulated by the State of Missouri, vary depending on the level, with financial assistance potentially available through the Standard Means Test (SMT).
In addition to SATOP, EMASS offers the Alcohol and Drug Education Program (ADEP), designed specifically for minors. This 10-hour course fulfills legal requirements for individuals found guilty of offenses like Minor in Possession (MIP) or for those seeking reinstatement of a suspended driver’s license. ADEP provides essential education on the physiological and psychological impacts of substances, including alcohol, marijuana, and other drugs.
With a focus on providing evidence-based education and intervention, EMASS supports individuals at every stage of their recovery or legal process, fostering healthier choices and responsible behaviors.
