The Bergen County Intoxicated Driver Resource Center (IDRC) provides essential education and evaluation for individuals convicted of Driving Under the Influence (DUI), including drunk and drugged drivers, boaters, and underage drinkers. Participation in the IDRC program is mandated by the court, and failure to comply may result in license revocation or incarceration. The program spans two days, offering six hours of drug and alcohol education each day, along with screenings and referrals for treatment as necessary.
The total fee for the program is $264, payable online upon registration, and must be settled no later than midnight on the Sunday before the class date. This fee is distinct from any court-imposed fines or restoration costs associated with the Motor Vehicle Commission. Individuals arriving under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be admitted to the class. Participants are advised to prepare for the program by ensuring they have food and water available, as breaks are limited. It is crucial for anyone with serious medical conditions to inform the IDRC in advance for authorization to attend.
The IDRC operates under the Bergen County Department of Health Services, specifically the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services. With a commitment to helping individuals understand the consequences of their actions and providing support for potential substance use issues, the IDRC plays a vital role in promoting public safety and rehabilitation within the community.
