The Clinton County Impaired Driver Program (IDP) at Clinton Community College is part of New York State’s initiative to help drivers regain their driving privileges after a conviction for an alcohol or drug-related driving violation. If your license or driving privilege in New York State has been revoked or suspended due to such a conviction, participation in the IDP may make you eligible for a conditional license or driving privilege. This option is also available for those who complete an approved out-of-state program.
To register, drivers convicted in New York or holding a New York driver’s license must sign up through the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). For those convicted in another state without a New York license, direct registration through Clinton Community College is available.
The IDP requires participants to complete 16 hours of instruction over a seven-week period. Full attendance is mandatory, and those needing additional treatment must complete it before receiving a certificate. If treatment extends beyond the program, participants must notify Clinton Community College upon its conclusion.
Some participants may be required to undergo a clinical assessment to meet DMV requirements. A list of local approved providers is maintained by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).
The program fee is $233, with an additional $50 re-entry fee for those who have been dropped and wish to rejoin. Payment must be made before the first class via Visa, Mastercard, check, or money order payable to Clinton Community College.
