The Impaired Driver Program (IDP) in New York State offers a pathway for individuals with a suspended or revoked license due to alcohol or drug-related driving convictions to regain their driving privileges. Participation in the IDP may make you eligible for a conditional driver’s license or even full restoration of your driving rights. To enroll, you must visit any New York State Department of Motor Vehicles office with your driver’s license or proof of identity and pay a $75 fee. Additionally, a $233 fee is required for the program offered at Genesee Community College. Please note that all fees are subject to change.
The IDP consists of seven weekly classroom sessions totaling sixteen hours. Attendance and active participation are mandatory. You must arrive on time and complete all assignments. If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to contact the program’s Director or Coordinator to schedule a make-up session. Failure to complete all program requirements, including any additional evaluation or treatment if mandated, will lead to the loss of your conditional license, and your original suspension or revocation will be reinstated. This program is crucial for those seeking to restore their driving privileges responsibly and in compliance with New York State law.
