Pivot offers the New York State Impaired Driver Program (IDP) as part of an effort to reduce injuries, disabilities, and fatalities caused by alcohol or drug-related motor vehicle crashes. The program also aims to decrease the risk of repeated impaired driving offenses. Individuals convicted of an alcohol or drug-related driving violation may be eligible for a conditional license or driving privilege upon completing the IDP. To determine eligibility, participants must visit their local New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
Enrollment in the program requires registration through the DMV. The program costs $233, with payment accepted via check, money order, or cash in the exact amount. For those needing payment arrangements or unable to complete payment by the last class, contacting the program director is advised.
The IDP consists of 16 hours of classroom education, spread over seven weeks, with each class lasting between 2 to 2 ½ hours. Classes are held in the evening, beginning at 6:00 PM, at Pivot’s Third Floor Conference Room in the Marcy Building, located at 167 Polk Street, Watertown, NY.
For out-of-state license holders interested in enrolling, it’s important to contact your state of issuance to ensure that the program meets your state's requirements.
