The Nassau Community College Impaired Driver Program (IDP) offers on-campus classes, though the office operates remotely. For inquiries, participants are encouraged to email us, as return phone calls may come from blocked numbers.
To enroll, New York State drivers must first register through the DMV, while out-of-state drivers can register directly with the program. Classes are held in Room 205 of the North Annex at 500 Endo Blvd., Garden City, NY. Participants should not register for a class until they have completed DMV registration.
The program consists of 16 hours of classroom instruction, spread over seven weeks. A $233 fee must be paid online before the first class. While most participants will only need to complete the classroom sessions, some may be required to undergo a clinical assessment to meet DMV requirements. Instructors will notify those affected during the second or third class. Assessments must be conducted by an evaluator or provider approved by the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).
Upon successful completion of the program and any required treatment, a completion certificate will be mailed to participants. If treatment extends beyond the class schedule, participants must notify the office via email once it is completed to receive their certificate. For those who are dropped from the program, re-entry requires a $50 fee and possibly re-enrollment through the DMV.
