The New York State Impaired Driver Program (IDP) offers individuals with a suspended or revoked driver’s license due to an alcohol or drug-related driving conviction the opportunity to regain driving privileges. By participating in the IDP, you may qualify for a conditional driver’s license or the full restoration of your driving rights. To enroll, you must visit a New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office with your driver’s license or proof of identity and pay a $75 fee. Additionally, there is a $233 fee to attend the program at Genesee Community College. Please note that fees are subject to change.
As a participant in the IDP, you are required to attend all seven weekly classroom sessions, totaling sixteen hours. Punctuality and active participation in the program, including completing all assignments, are mandatory. If you miss a session, you must contact the program’s Director or Coordinator to arrange a make-up class. Failure to complete the program, including any required evaluation or treatment, will result in the loss of your conditional license, and the original suspension or revocation of your driving privileges will be reinstated.
