DWI Services in North Carolina
In North Carolina, individuals convicted of Driving While Impaired (DWI) are mandated to complete a Substance Use Assessment, also known as a DWI Assessment. This evaluation is conducted by a Licensed or Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (LCAS/CSAC) at an approved DWI facility. Based on the assessment results, individuals may need to enroll in an Alcohol Drug Education Traffic School (ADETS), such as the "Prime For Life" program, or enter a treatment program.
To reinstate their driving license after a DMV revocation, clients must complete several requirements: the substance use assessment, an education program or recommended treatment, and pay associated fees. The assessment costs $100, while the ADETS program costs $160, and treatment fees vary depending on the assessment outcome.
Assessments must be performed face-to-face by a qualified professional, utilizing standardized instruments and clinical interviews. Important documentation for the assessment includes verification of Breathalyzer or blood test results, a complete driving history from the DMV, and court documents. Clients must arrive sober, as being under the influence will result in being turned away and charged for the scheduled time.
Importantly, clients have six months from the completion of their assessment to initiate their education or treatment. Failure to do so necessitates a new assessment and an additional $100 fee. Our comprehensive DWI services include short-term and long-term treatment options, intensive treatment, telehealth services, and consultation, ensuring tailored support for each individual’s recovery journey.
