At DWI Assessment and Counseling Services, we specialize in providing essential services for individuals convicted of Driving While Impaired (DWI) in North Carolina. A crucial step after a DWI conviction is obtaining a substance use assessment, which involves a face-to-face interview with a Licensed or Certified Substance Use Counselor. This assessment helps determine if an individual has a problem with alcohol or drugs. Completing your DWI assessment prior to your court date is vital for obtaining a Limited Driving Privilege and fulfilling the North Carolina DMV's assessment requirement for license reinstatement. Engaging in the assessment and treatment proactively can also potentially mitigate penalties and help avoid jail time.
Our educational and treatment programs are tailored to meet the needs of DWI offenders at various levels of severity. The Alcohol and Drug Education and Traffic School (ADETS) offers a 16-hour state-mandated curriculum for first-time offenders who meet specific criteria. For individuals with previous convictions or higher BAC levels, we provide Short-Term and Long-Term Outpatient Treatment options, which range from 20 to 89 hours and require participation over a minimum of 30 to 60 days. Additionally, for those in active addiction or with multiple DWI offenses, Intensive Outpatient Treatment options are available through local referrals. After-care treatment is also offered, ensuring continuity of care for clients transitioning from inpatient treatment. We extend our services to assist out-of-state clients facing DMV issues related to North Carolina DWI convictions, providing a comprehensive support system for those in need.
