DWI / SAP Program Overview
Empowered Citizens (EPC) is a fully licensed provider by NC DWI Services, dedicated to assisting individuals with their substance use assessments in a professional, confidential, and timely manner. Our DWI Program is essential for anyone convicted of Driving While Impaired (DWI) in North Carolina, as a DWI Substance Use Assessment is a prerequisite for obtaining a Limited Driving Privilege. EPC prioritizes your needs, often completing assessments on the same day appointments are requested.
North Carolina law outlines specific placement criteria for DWI substance abuse treatment, mandating that assessments are valid for six months. If counseling does not commence within this period, a new assessment is required. To facilitate your assessment, you will need to provide a copy of your lifetime driving record from the DMV, verification of your Breathalyzer or blood test results, payment for the assessment fee, and your DWI ticket.
The DWI Program includes five placement levels, ranging from Level I, which is a minimum of 16 contact hours for first-time offenders with no substance use disorder diagnosis, to Level V, which involves inpatient treatment for severe substance use disorders. Each level is structured to meet varying needs based on individual assessments, ensuring that all clients receive appropriate care tailored to their specific circumstances. Participants in these programs will engage in a series of educational and therapeutic sessions designed to promote recovery and compliance with state regulations, supporting them on their path to rehabilitation and restored driving privileges.
