The outpatient program in Raleigh offers a comprehensive range of behavioral health services tailored for women, particularly those who are pregnant or parenting, as well as their children. This initiative addresses the multifaceted challenges posed by substance use, violence, and incarceration, ensuring holistic support for emotional and physical health. Collaborating with medical providers at WakeBrook, the Wake County Health Department, and WakeMed, the program enhances care through partnerships with maternal-child health advocates.
At WakeBrook, the outpatient treatment team provides various services, including traditional outpatient therapy, peer support, clinical case management, individual therapy, and onsite psychiatric services. Participants can engage in diverse therapeutic and educational groups covering critical topics such as addiction education, relapse prevention, managing stress, relationship issues, women's health, trauma recovery, parenting, and financial management.
Additionally, the Horizons program at the Wake County Health Department integrates behavioral health services with other health department offerings. This collaboration enables comprehensive clinical assessments, individual therapy, and intensive case management, supplemented by transportation services.
The program also emphasizes support for women transitioning from prison, aiming to mitigate the risks of overdose and improve financial independence. By strengthening connections between behavioral health services, post-release programs, and maternal-child health agencies, the initiative seeks to reduce recidivism and promote positive parenting practices, ultimately fostering healthier families and communities.
